New Year's Eve 2027 Guide
New Year Fireworks in Dubai: 2027 Celebrations Guide
Dubai welcomed 2026 with 48 fireworks displays across 40 locations, from the Burj Khalifa and Atlantis The Palm to Dubai Festival City, Al Seef and Hatta. The 2027 line-up is usually confirmed in late December, but the main shows are expected again. The easiest way to watch without crowds or road closures is from the water: a New Year's Eve dhow cruise from Dubai Marina, Dubai Creek or Dubai Canal, with a gala dinner and live entertainment, sailing from about 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
How big is New Year's Eve in Dubai?
Dubai stages one of the largest New Year's Eve celebrations in the world. For the countdown to 2026, the city planned 48 fireworks displays at 40 locations, all supervised by Dubai's Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA). The Dubai Metro ran non-stop for 43 hours to move the crowds.
The city is also busier than ever. Dubai welcomed a record 19.59 million international visitors in 2025, and hotel occupancy reached 80.7%. December is peak season, so New Year's Eve viewing spots, restaurant tables and boats fill up weeks in advance.

Where to watch the New Year fireworks in Dubai
Dubai's shows fall into a few clear zones. Each one has a different feel, and some are far easier to reach than others on the night.
| Zone | Main fireworks | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Dubai | Burj Khalifa | The headline show. Huge crowds, road closures from 4 PM |
| Palm Jumeirah | Atlantis The Palm, Atlantis The Royal, Sofitel, One&Only | Big beachfront displays over open water |
| Jumeirah coast | Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah, La Mer | Resort and beach-club displays |
| Bluewaters and JBR | Bluewaters, The Beach JBR | Lively Marina-side atmosphere |
| Creek and Festival City | Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Al Seef | Waterfront shows with heritage Dubai as the backdrop |
| Family venues | Global Village, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Parks | Ticketed parks with early countdowns |
| Outside the city | Hatta, Bab Al Shams, Marmoom Oasis | Quieter desert and mountain displays |

Why watching from the water beats the crowds
On land, the best spots fill up hours before midnight. Downtown roads close from the afternoon, ride-hailing prices surge, and getting home after 12:30 AM can take longer than the fireworks themselves. A boat avoids most of that.
- A guaranteed seat. You board at a set time and your table is waiting. No arriving at 6 PM to hold a spot.
- Nothing blocking the view. On open water there are no buildings, barriers or crowds between you and the sky.
- Dinner and entertainment included. A gala buffet, soft drinks and live shows are part of the evening, so you're not searching for a restaurant table.
- More than one show. From the water you can often see several displays light up along the coast at once.
- Away from the Downtown closures. Boarding points in the Marina, the Creek and the Canal are outside the main closure zone.
Which Dubai cruise sees which fireworks?
Luxury Dhow Cruise sails three routes. Each one faces a different set of shows, so choose by the fireworks you want to see most.
| Cruise route | Fireworks in view | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Marina | Atlantis The Palm, Bluewaters and JBR, Burj Al Arab | Couples, friends, lively atmosphere |
| Dubai Creek | Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Al Seef; Burj Khalifa in the distance | Families, first-time visitors, heritage views |
| Dubai Canal | Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai | Anyone who wants the Burj Khalifa show without the Downtown crowds |
A quick tip: the Burj Khalifa is too far away to see clearly from Dubai Marina. If the world's tallest building is your must-see, book the Canal. Not sure which route suits you? Our Creek vs Marina comparison covers the differences.
What your New Year's Eve on board looks like
Here is how a typical New Year's Eve cruise runs. Exact boarding times vary by route and are printed on your confirmation.
- 8:30 PMArrive early and check in. Traffic on 31 December is heavy, so give yourself extra time to reach the pier.
- 9:00 PMBoard and welcome drink. Find your table on the lit-up dhow while the crew welcomes guests.
- 10:00 PMSail out. The boat leaves the pier and heads to its viewing position on the water.
- 10:15 PMGala buffet opens. International dishes, a live cooking station, desserts and unlimited soft drinks.
- 11:00 PMLive entertainment. Tanoura dance, music and the build-up to the countdown.
- 11:50 PMHead to the upper deck. Get your phone ready and find your spot for the countdown.
- 12:00 AMHappy New Year! Fireworks light up the skyline, reflected on the water around you.
- 1:00 AMBack at the pier. Leave after the main rush, when the roads start to clear.
Upper deck or lower deck at midnight?
Upper deck
- Open-air, 360° view of the fireworks
- The best spot for photos and video
- Bring a light jacket: late-December nights on the water feel cool
Lower deck
- Air-conditioned and closest to the buffet
- Comfortable for young children and older guests
- Most guests still head upstairs for the countdown
Is a New Year's Eve cruise in Dubai worth it?
For most visitors, yes. New Year's Eve cruises in Dubai generally cost between AED 1,000 and AED 2,000 per person, depending on the route, the boat and the buffet. That is a premium over a normal evening, but compare what the ticket replaces:
| Watching on land | Watching from a NYE cruise |
|---|---|
| Arrive hours early to hold a spot | Board at a set time, seat reserved |
| View may be blocked by crowds or buildings | Open water, clear view of the sky |
| Separate restaurant booking, often with a set NYE menu | Gala buffet and soft drinks included |
| Standing in crowds for hours | Seated, with live entertainment |
| Road closures and surge pricing near Downtown | Boarding points outside the main closure zone |
It's a great fit for couples, families with children, groups of friends and corporate teams. It may not suit you if you want to be inside the Downtown crowd for the Burj Khalifa atmosphere. For a group celebration, ask about private dhow charters with your own menu and decorations.
Road closures, metro and planning tips
Expect the same pattern as last year, when Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) closed roads around Downtown in stages.
| Time on 31 Dec (NYE 2026) | Roads closed |
|---|---|
| From 4:00 PM | Al Istiqlal St, Al Mustaqbal St, Lower Financial Centre Rd, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd, Burj Khalifa St |
| From 8:00 PM | Al Multaqa (Al Mulook) St |
| From 9:00 PM | Upper Financial Centre Rd |
| From 11:00 PM | Sheikh Zayed Road (partial) |
